Getting the best from solar lights outdoors

The panel is what matters. Place it where it gets direct sun for most of the day, away from eaves, trees and shade from the house, and angle it towards the sky. Let new lights charge through a full sunny day before the first night so the battery starts full. After cloudy days they may glow for a shorter time. A lead between panel and lights, like the 1.9m lead on the silhouette tree, lets you keep the lights in a shady spot while the panel sits in the sun.
